I've been taking Ketamine for a few months now and I feel so much better. My feet problems, including not being able to walk are much better. My feet are not perfect but they are much better. The at home treatment is the best. At night when my feet hurt it really helps to ease the pain. On another note, after I leave a treatment, the following day I can do everything I need to. Ketamine, a derivative of phencyclidine, is an anesthetic drug that was developed in 1962 and has been widely used in a variety of settings. Ketamine acts as an antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor and targets glutamate, which is an excitatory amino acid neurotransmitter.

Ketamine appears to promote the growth of new synapses in the prefrontal cortex, resulting in greater connectivity in the brain, while also switching certain connections on and off. This cascade of events is thought to be the reason for the rapid anti-depressant effect.

The Chronic Pain Ketamine Infusion Series consists of six 2-hour infusions and has several more analgesic medications added to the infusions. This is weight-based and starts at 0.75mg/kg and will increase with each successive dose as long as it is well tolerated by the patient. The pain protocol is conducted in the same manner as the depression protocol over 10-14 days but can be extended to a third week if necessary.
